Moor Hound “Michigan”:::I love pop music, I really do, but there’s just something about a human being + guitar that just dredges sweet nostalgia up inside me. Like, remember spending summers outdoors and being scared to come home when it got dark because you had ruined your clothes with grass stains? Sweaty, hot summers and stepping in dog shit and getting stung with bees? That’s what a human being/guitar music does to me. Deep connections, my friend. Maybe I should get that looked at…So, here’s Moor Hound who writes dear, sincere folk songs that you’re going to dig. It’s been a whole year since I released my first full-length, Love In My Jaws. If you haven’t acquired a copy of it yet, you can head here and download it for free (just put $0 for the price) or purchase a physical copy.

New album update: After some contemplation and new equipment purchases, I’ve decided to start the recording process over, and concentrate on doing my best to make everything sound as good as I can. This will probably push my initial release time-frame back a bit, but I just felt I was rushing it before, and I wasn’t happy with what I was hearing. I’ll keep you all updated!

Writing/Recording New Album & Single

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. A few weeks ago, I came back to Florida after being on the road for two months. After my two week tour throughout the Midwest and southern states, I joined the Rodeo Ruby Love dudes and dudettes on their tour with Streetlight Manifesto and Reel Big Fish as their merch guy. We drove through 30 states, 2 provinces, totaling over 13,000 miles, all in the span of a month and a half. Needless to say, it’s been the best summer ever and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Now that I’m back, I’ll be concentrating on finishing up writing and then recording my next release(s). Right now I’m planning on doing an 8-song album, and the title will probably be “Stifled Spirit.” I’m thinking it’ll be an early 2012 release. I’m thinking I’ll release some kind of 2 or 3 track single between now and then as well. I’m really excited about these songs, and I’m anxious to get them recorded so you can hear them! One of the songs, “Burrow”, is actually already recorded and on my Facebook page. You can download it if you want. I’ll keep you updated on the progress of the album, so stay tuned! Tour - Day 8,9,10 - 6/20/2011

For Day 8, Austin and I left Florence, KY and headed to Valparaiso, IN for a house show there with John Davey and Autumn Caller, who were both super good. Elizabeth was a very good host, and we all talked and laughed about many things, including the terrible things we did to people in Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sims as kids. You know, like making the roller coasters crash into large groups of people, and trapping guests in your house until they died. We’ve all done it. Afterwards I made the silent, peaceful drive to West Lafeyette to stay with John Davey at his house with Austin. I almost hit a damn deer.

Day 9, we (Austin and I) made our way down to Bloomington from West Lafeyette for our show at Rachael’s Cafe with Frank Schweikhardt and Rodeo Ruby Love, which I was really stoked for. We hung out and ate pizza at my friend Zack and Kurt’s place before the show. Frank and Rodeo were great, as always. My friend Scott, of Bro. Stephen even showed up! We all hung out after the show too. It was really cool getting to talk to everyone from Indy and Bloomington. It’s definitely been one of the best days so far!

Day 10, my friend Kurt from Rodeo showed Austin and I around downtown Bloomington and the Indiana University campus. We ate some food and checked out a local record store called Landlocked Music. Afterwards, we left Bloomington and drove to Lafayette for an outdoor show by the train station with John Davey. More and more people gathered as we played, and it ended up being a really sweet show. We met some cool people, one of whom, named Heidi, bought Austin, John, and I dinner at an Irish pub. She was so nice! It was a really neat day, I’d say.

Tour - Day 5,6,7 - 6/17/2011

After a nice talk and some coffee, I made my way from Madison to Nashville. The drive was a little rainy, with even a little hail, but I was able to made it to my friends’ Thomas and Sarah’s place. Adventures included eating at the best tex-mex restaurant I’ve ever been to, exploring some of Nashville’s natural splendor (cheesy much?), watching the Bruins game downtown, and shakes followed by mac & cheese and South Park. Riggedy rad.

Day 6 started off with some more exploring around Nashville, including a stop at Grimey’s record store and Third Man Records. After yet another meal consisting of tacos, Thomas and I, with our friend Tony, drove up to Clarksville for my show at the Coup. The venue was pretty neat, and the people there were cool. I got to play with a guy who played the hammered dulcimer, and he was really good. Tony recorded some really sweet videos throughout the night, so hopefully I’ll be able to post those soon.

For Day 7, I said goodbye to Thomas in Nashville, and made my way to Cincinnati, OH to play at Taza with friend Austin Miller, who’s also from Orlando. After the drive through Kentucky, I met up with Austin at his relatives’ house, and we drove into Cincinnati together. Taza was a really cool place, and the people there were really nice. We got to drive through downtown (thanks to my GPS) and we saw fireworks over the Reds stadium. It was pretty neat. So far I’ve had a place to stay everyday, which is a beautiful thing. And my clothes are spinning in the washer right now. Mmmm yeaaaah.
